Over 600,000 numbers ported in Panama in four years

A total of 617,379 Panamanians have changed mobile or fixed telephony provider while keeping their numbers since the introduction of number portability four years ago. The figures up to 31 March 2016 were revealed by the National Authority of Public Services (ASEP). Mobile lines account for the overwhelming majority, at 574,312, corresponding to 9.73 percent of the active market, while a total of 43,067 fixed telephony lines changed operator, representing 7 percent of the lines still in service. At the end of 2015, the total number of active mobile lines was 5.90 million, while the fixed network had a total of 903,840 lines.
